6. In most states, a person can file for candidacy under the party

of that person's choice. Party approval is not required. so Mr. Manchik, whatever his origins, can file as a Green, whether the Green party knows or even cares. That's the case here in Minnesota. Two years ago a rabid tea party right-winger filed for the House seat here as a Democrat, running against our incumbent, Betty McCollum in the primary. It wasn't a problem, but there he was.

Mr. Manchick is a candidacy filer, apparently. I expect he'll file for other offices, as well. There are always a few of those around.
