23. It's far from a zero chance. It's definitely a plausible scenario.

Whether it's likely is another matter. There are still a lot of hoops and contingencies--Trump getting indicted, Trump getting convicted, Trump not getting the benefit of a Ford-esqe pardon, Trump getting sentenced to incarceration, Trump not keeling over of a heart attack before it's all said and done, etc.

It's just too early to say how likely that will all play out. It's unprecedented here, but we've only had 45 presidencies to date so lots of things that happen with any president might be considered unprecedented. Before 1974, it was unprecedented that a President had ever voluntarily resigned his office, for example.

But if you want to look for a fully developed, democratic country that has just recently sent its former leader away to prison, look no further than South Korea. Just as an example.

There are some things that are frequently bandied around here at DU that are simply not going to happen. Like nullifying the 2016 election and installing Hillary. Love it, but it's not going to happen. Or nullifying all judges that Trump appoints. Again, not going to happen.

But the idea that Trump could potentially face prison time, while still a long ways off and extremely speculative at the moment, is an actual possibility.
