Not much time left to make good easily on the promises he extracted from trump. Whatever they talked about in Helsinki in secret that day, for two hours behind closed doors with nobody but their translators in the room, Putin knows trump only has a little time left to follow through.

Probably - and realistically- more like NO time left, now that the Democrats own the House and all the power to investigate, unchecked. It’s gonna be a lot harder to sneak stuff under the radar now.

That said, it could mean Putin can really toy with him now. Twisting the tourniquet tighter and tighter. It might be a case of “let’s see how much we can get out of him now that he’s getting desperate, and his way out of this mess is starting to close down. Let’s have some fun...” Particularly if Putin has a sadistic streak in him.
