(12,342 posts)As I said--members of her own party and the press disparaged her endlessly. The whole 'new faces/fresh blood' arguments circled 'round and 'round right here at DU. The same sort of dumping went on in the press.
Do Dems really want to install Nancy Pelosi as Speaker when she's so-o-o unpopular? they queried. Will they risk dampening their November victory?
Never a mention that those 'unpopular' polls were affected by the GOP's constant demonizing (cue up a HRC soundtrack). More seasoned Republicans always knew who Nancy Pelosi was and the power she could wield. They put her front and center during the midterms, the evil liberal from San Francisco. As for the Trumpster and his acolytes? They think any and every woman can be dominated. They were wrong, bigly.
The Democratic Party? Fortunately level heads prevailed. Because no one in their right mind would deliberately choose a medical student to perform heart surgery, anymore that put a raw recruit on the battlefield then name him/her General.
Once upon a time, Nancy Pelosi was underestimated. I suspect that won't happen again.
