and Biden also plays the nice guy in public. That was his whole problem with Anita Hill. He wanted to be seen as non-partisan.
Biden was also more moderate than Obama on issues, so he was closer to the GOP in the first place. For example, his plan for health care stopped short of providing universal insurance.
He also supported Republican bills to make student debt not able to be wiped out in bankruptcy.
