who worked in both public buildings and church basements.
cant imagine how churches are okay, but state owned buildings are not.

working for my sister out in the burbs, many of the polling places are churches, and they get to make waaaay too many of their own rules. candidates are not allowed to put out signs until the morning of the election. you cant even go plant them in the middle of the night. they take them all down when they open the polls.
this not only disadvantages progressive candidates by giving too much power to limit speech, it hurts voter turn out. if you arent a church goer, you will have a harder time finding you polling place ahead of time.
some were even early polling places that did not allow candidate signs.
