Two years before the shooting at Ford's Theater, John Wilkes Booth's brother, Edwin, saved the life of Lincoln's eldest son, Robert Todd Lincoln.

Also, Robert Todd Lincoln was in the White House when his father was assassinated, he was an eye-witness to the assassination of James Garfield, and was at the same exhibition when McKinley was shot. Subsequently, he declined all invitations to be in the same place as any President.
