(4,969 posts)Prolly represents about 1/5 of tRump supporters in my anecdotal experiences. I don't bother with trying to change their minds about anything. But I will scan for faces nearby that have a raised eyebrow, and with a smile, open face say to them something along the lines of, I never learned how to be racist or democrats take care of the poor/workers/little guys and care about the bees. Then go into how you can take down a yellow jacket nest with soap water.
I take the conversation away from the uninformed and racist, say something confident and clear about democrats, then downshift to a common concern.
With these kinds of conversation, I have found hidden democrats, never trumpers, or generally exposed a brain washed/backwoods/racist person to an actual, living, breathing person that isn't afraid to unflinchingly go against their status quo.
I swap out political pins on my purse, so no one mistakes who I am politically.
Understand, I do not have the luxury of staying out of tRump supporters faces. I have to psych myself up every week to maintain my composure as I move through the mostly conservative world where my grandmother lives. She is appalled by tRump and republicans/really likes Obama, so it helps to have her as an ally whom enjoys how I take it on.
