38. Medicare + supplement beats

Medicare Advantage. My parent switched last year and it's so much better for Medicare to be the primary payer with the supplement picking up whatever isn't covered (or accepted by the provider). Under Medicare Advantage, my parent had co-pays for specialists. The supplement has a lower co-pay, but the doctors have all accepted Medicare reimbursement and have not asked for a co-pay. And the supplement is cheaper, too, even with the best Rx coverage included.

If you haven't read through your annual Medicare booklet, it is amazing what Medicare covers. A medicare advantage plan just puts a gatekeeper between you and your doctor(s).
