(52,196 posts)his buildings aren't good, they're the greatest in the world.
if a number is involved, such as his net worth, every time he tells the story the number goes up.
he claimed he was the healthiest president ever.
same story here.
the phone call didn't merely comply with relevant legal and ethical standards, it was "perfect".
it's a superlative that doesn't apply, but donnie needs to emphasize things, so he goes for a super-superlative. "perfect" is that kind of adjective, even if it doesn't really apply to not violating legal and ethical rules.
when we were trying to start a family, we had some difficulties, and i we had some tests done.
the doctor said i had "super sperm". i laughed because i immediately saw what he was doing. i know there's no such thing as "super sperm", there's either a problem or there's not a problem. not having a problem is merely "normal". but typical male egos much prefer hearing a term like "super sperm", so that's the term they use in that office for what i would call "normal".
donnie's the same way, except he does it mostly to flatter himself, not others.
so the phone call wasn't "normal" or "completely appropriate", because that's not good enough.
hence, "perfect".
