(5,371 posts)BUT I think it goes much deeper than that.
It's obvious to some Trump has been subverting or rorting the system. As have other, previous presidents, but Trump is in a league of his own. A Mafia Don would be proud of him, getting away with it for three years - or his whole life, depending on your view.
But it begs the bigger question:
Can we put this entirely on one political party? (Granted the ratbags in politics seem to naturally gravitate to the biggest feeding troughs, like a herd of feral, hungry swine.)
Are there no people with serious power in either camp that can get some real time consideration of bad behaviour from leaders, and tap them on their shoulders, and say, George T style, 'Oh My! You should NOT be thinking of doing that!'
As is, the reaction to Don's casual attitude is years too late. The damage has been done.
For one, get rid of the 'Executive Orders' power thing, it seems to over-ride normal processes and makes a mockery of them. Same for 'presidential pardons'.
A President is a public servant, not a King, after all. He should NOT have the power of deciding who lives or dies, or get away with criminal behaviour.
In short, curtail the power of the POTUS position, and increase oversight within the party in power.
And for crying out loud, lock down the validity of the next election! Paper ballots only!
And a full media black out of political info one week before the next election. TV, Radio, Social Media. A blanket ban.
To give those with aching brain cells some time to clear their heads.
