Is a tall plastic garbage can. Set some peanut butter in the bottom and make sure they can get in - heck, build them an on ramp. They can’t get out. The next morning, take the garbage can outside- far enough from your house- and release the mouse.

My cat brought in a rat recently. He usually only leaves us bits, sometimes whole heads. He must not like the taste of rats. If our female cat brings in a mouse, it’s usually alive. I’ve caught many a live mouse to release. My favorite one was the one she brought into our room and dropped on our bedding.
