Because in 2017 and 2108, people who identified as Republican but hated Trump have left the party, leaving only Trump loyalists. It gives the impression that everyone in the party loves him, which is true, but doesn't recognize that the party is shrinking because *sensible* Republicans are sprinting away from the party as fast as possible.
