it’s true: NOTHING MATTERS ANYMORE.
What do I mean? Ok, someone can say that someone else is basically a sick fuck and minutes later, he or she are extolling the “virtues” of that same individual in extremis. Or conversely, someone can be exempted so to speak, from military service either with bone spurs or famously “other priorities” (Cheney-ism) but go on to say that the generals and admirals are dopes and losers. This is all within bounds and within normal limits. Someone can say that it is snowing in 70 degree weather and can also say that he or she has no idea who someone is even though there is photographic and video evidence that the individuals involved spent significant time together on multiple and numerous occasions. This is fine. Someone can also say that his or her son in law, who has no portfolio at all whatsoever is assigned to solve the Middle East situation and even more remarkably, had “special dispensation” to fly on the Jewish Sabbath even though no such thing exists in the (my) religion, the implication being that in over 5000 years of history, G-d himself chose this individual above all others, even above Moses and Abraham. And for the purposes of this post/essay, may I conclude with the notion that someone may be “happily and serenely married” although he confesses to sexual dalliances with a porn star and a Playboy centerfold, both involving money/payouts, and even more excitingly, can be heard to say on tape that he can grab women’s genitalia because he is so moved at the moment and that is apparently all right with a great many individuals including evangelicals, women, and evangelical women.
