(70 posts)So that it wasn't up to the wild west of the internet. Even in the initial reports that did not find anything, they leave out about 75% of the other contradictions and backstories that have been widely reported online. I think that are just really do not want to appear to be smearing someone who could be a victim. Maybe they are doing more reporting that will come out, but in the meantime, they (Washington Post, NYT) have let their op ed pages run amuck with speculation.
But people do have to be careful about posting about this sort of stuff on Twitter, in case it's not her. I'm guessing that if this WAS her, that the checks don't have anything to do with her firing, or her resigning. I had figured that maybe her 2019 story could be some version of true, but I'm doubting that now too. I think the reason why she sometimes says that she was fired and sometimes said that she resigned-and Tara had also written in a blog that it was clear she was "going to be fired for legitimate or illigimate reasons"- was that the "deal" that she told her ex-husband about was not a deal at all. More likely, she was just not a good employee ( did not want to do the work) or fit for the office, and she was told that she could either be fired or that she could resign "for personal reasons". That happens all of the time. Maybe something like what she described (not wanting to serve drinks) happened, but it also could be that she put that spin on the story to gain sympathy from her ex husband or to save face. I tried to have as open mind as possible, but I think that we are dealing with a master manipulator here. I also think that it's very likely that she has been abused in her life, but not by Biden or his office. The Vox article was good, but even that was extremely generous to her outright lying to the reporter. I understand what the reporter means, but should they really "want" a story to be true, or should they just try to separate themselves from that and do the reporting? I have a hard time remembering employees from a 5 years ago, especially if they were in lower level positions and only worked 9 months, but Tara's stories involve MANY people, and she seems to have a very complicated history where someone from her past is going to come out and disclose other contradictions about her account.
