Through no effort of his own, the quick reaction of the state governments in New York, Washington, and California blunted the initial stages of the pandemic. Trump has claimed those efforts for himself to brag that he personally saved millions of lives during the time he was calling the pandemic a hoax and bending the medical community to parrot his see-no-evil approach.
