About the Lincoln Project [View all]
Many of us have voiced the concern that the Lincoln Project is doing the right thing but they are the opposition.
This is not only true, but I pray it stays true. We need an opposing party that understand that the country is more important than their party is. There used to be a tradition of reading George Washington's Farewell Address. This tradition disappeared during my lifetime.
One of the warnings that Washington gave was to not put party ahead of the nation. We need an opposing party for our party to remain honest. We need argument and opposition. But we need decent, patriotic opposition and not what we have seen from the Republican party ever since and perhaps before Nixon. If the Lincoln Project keeps to the voice and values they have shown in their videos and statements, I welcome them and wish with all my heart that they will reform the Republican party and give us the opponent that we need. An opponent that fights hard, and fights smart. An opponent that fights for the betterment of our nation, is the opponent we need.
Imagine a day when bipartisan does not mean concessions were made to pay off crooks. Imagine a day where bipartisan means it was thought through and argued with the intent of making our nation and our world a safer and better place.
