2. "Everyone who wants a test can get a test"

No more true today than it was March 6 when Trump first said it.

Lacking that capacity to test everyone, and since America doesn't do big jobs anymore (like fighting beautiful world wars - and well you might say ), we're left with very few options that don't cost a lot of money. Because right this second, money matters to some Republicans and further deficit spending isn't going to fly with them. Also, Steve Mnuchin is obsessively concerned that some poor lout in Lower Slobovia might make a monthly sawbuck more on unemployment benefits than he would working his lousy starvation wage job, and that would be worse than a hundred Hitlers times Stalin squared. So we can't pay people to stay home and stay safe. Oh, and the children! Won't someone think of the children?! Little Mabel MUST get to school or her development will be forever scarred by not seeing Ms. Warwick and her best friend Little Olive. It's worth all three of their lives (and more) to get the schools open again!

We'd have to mobilize on a scale similar to gearing up for the space race, but that's impossible for the transactional government of Donald J. Trump. If Donny doesn't gets paid, we can't do it.
