Citizens United just made it infinitely worse. IMO, what we ought to do is say to every candidate, "Okay, you get $x million to fund your campaign. That's your lot, so don't spend it all in one place." No super PACs, none of that bullshit. Everyone gets the same amount and can spend it however they like, but that's their limit.
People who support them can still volunteer, of course, but this nonsense with the rich and powerful essentially buying politicians like collectibles needs to go away.
