They saved For 7 years and had a sizable down payment but were denied because they were African American. It was well known that B of A discriminated against minorities. Asian and Hispanics during that time were also denied mortgages. My Dad told my sister and I to NEVER bank at B of A for that reason. Ironically AP Gianinni started his bank because Italian Americans were denied loans by established bankers in SF and he started this bank for them. Fast Forward to 1955 they were denying mortgages to minorities. My parents ending up getting that mortgage from another small bank and 30 years later they have a mortgage paid off party!

And now I’ve heard it’s worst from all their mergers.
