Huge ignore lists were passed around by private message, with Obama supporters identifying Hillary supporters who needed to be intimidated and put on ignore.
It was beyond ugly. I was sent the list on a different site. The person who sent it said he didn't want to take a chance on using the messaging system here. My name was on the list along with dozens of posters who I respected the most.
Same thing at DailyKos and other progressive sites. MyDD became the only major haven for Hillary supporters.
Many great posters at this site left and never returned based on treatment received in 2008, simply via supporting Hillary.
I stayed away from this site during primaries 2016 because I sensed it would be another mess. Then it was more than amusing once Hillary was nominated to see many of the same names who had viciously attacked her in 2008 suddenly singing praises.
Hillary was my all-time favorite Democratic nominee. But it should have happened in 2008. That was my argument at the time, that you had to grasp the situational aspect and run the female in the favorable national cycle. Hillary would have won in 2008, given Bush approval so low for 3.5 years since Katrina. During that first term she would have received huge credit for rescuing the economy. She would have won again in 2012. Then that sets the state for basically unblemished Obama in 2016.
Such a waste. I despise it when everyone gets stuck in here-and-now tunnel vision instead of big picture grasp of situational variance from cycle to cycle.
