She just turned 16 in July, so she's not a young child, but she is sick at home. Very tired with flu-like symptoms and my brother and his wife are in quarantine with her. I worry more about my brother who is in his mid 50's and who will have a harder time fighting off the virus if he catches it from her. My nephew left for college a few weeks ago, so he is probably fine for now, unless he catches it there.

This is the problem. Most of these kids will survive, but their parents and grandparents are much more susceptible toward catching it and having complications, and even dying from it. We are all supposed to go down there for Thanksgiving, but my biggest fear is the kids in the family who range in age from 12 - 18.

Last Thanksgiving I caught a terrible cold (which I think might have even been Covid based on the symptoms) and I am worried about being around them again this year, as they are likely to be non-symptomatic carriers. This is the first time this virus has hit home for me. I am mostly afraid for my parents. I just hope they stay safe.
