We all know she's a bullshitter who will fall in line at the last minute.

We need to go aggressively after other vulnerable senators.

By focusing on Collins, it provides cover for other vulnerable senators from media and voter attention.

Collins is like a sacrificial metal, added to take corrosive abuse and save the core product.
