I got a lot of lazy answers like yours. I think your apparent understanding of basic civics is what shows a lack of knowledge. It is not as simple as merely voting for a person when it comes to presidential elections. For any other office votes are cast for a specific person. In the case of presidential elections one votes for electors who choose the president. If the candidate they are supposed to choose is dead or incapacitated can they pick anyone they want? This could become a very messy constitutional issue that goes WAY beyond whatever you learned in Schoolhouse Rock.
