My brother who is 68 is voting for the first time also. I was gobsmacked when I heard this news. Of course he's voting for Biden/Harris.

I actually attribute it to absentee voting. I think he was always a bit intimidated about going to the polls because he is one of those men who doesn't like to look stupid or ask questions about how to do something that he should know how to do. I have no idea if this is one of the reasons he's voting or not, but I know him quite well and I'll bet the ease of registering and voting at home made him feel competent to do this.
