... county D.A. and his brother was Ray Shafer, the Governor of the State. He liked to play
ball with the kids in our middle class neighborhood, he was a WW II hero, highly educated,
very nice, believed in education, the environment, civil rights, infrastructure, unions, and it
was a different time but we used to see him all the time and nobody would bother him outside
of yelling "hey gov." And he was a republican too. Those days are long gone.
