30. I wish: Stand up and shout, "Treason!"

Shout down the bastards, call them traitors to their faces.They deserve no comity, no respect for the “traditions of the august institution.” They deserve a taste of their own medicine. It’s not “stooping to their level,” it’s standing up for what’s right.

Let’s suppose Biden is inaugurated (not a given, even at this late date). Biden will have four tough years, years in which the great right wing echo machine will promote more seditionist ideas. He’ll be thwarted to the fullest extent of Republican’s abilities, which will remain substantial. Attacks on him and all Democrats will escalate.

In four years they’ll be back with a vengeance, with a better candidate, more money, and more desire for vengeance—against you and me.

Now is the time to make it clear that our side won’t stand for it. We have to show ourselves that we will stand and fight. Our congresspeople need to show leadership. One or two of them standing up and showing real outrage as the outrage unfolds isn’t too much to ask.

Ask yourself, if you were there, would just sit with your hands folded and take it? I wouldn’t.
