He spent two months claiming that he won an election that he clearly lost, did everything that he could to try to steal it, including pressuring state officials, and whipped his followers into a violent frenzy.

His actions culminated in his incitement of a violent insurrection against the entire Congress as they were doing the final certification of the election.

He always had the choice to leave peacefully and with dignity. He consistently rejected that path. It's a little late for him to suddenly want it now.
