It's hard to believe members were actively aiding the riot. Not that they *wouldn't*, but more to the point of it going way outside instincts of self-preservation, and we all know those instincts are either inborn, or come in each of the orientation kits.

The urge to keep their seat and be reelected is the strongest urge they have - to the point that they have their own, custom pyramid of Maslow's Hierarchy.
