Dems have control of the Senate, period. McConnell was in no position to make demands. This was a manufactured drama, like a lot of things are today. Schumer didn’t have to give an inch and he didn’t.

Manchin saying no to killing the filibuster publicly has nothing to do with McConnell and Schumer. It gave Mitch an excuse to pretend he was negotiating though.

We don’t have the votes to kill the filibuster. That’s fine fir now. No matter how adamant Manchin seems, if Republicans are completely unreasonable he can change his mind.
