3. I don't understand the thinking behind wanting a quick trial in the Senate.

It does seem that committee hearings would be a great way to 'educate the public' as Dean says. We would all be learning what really went on, who was involved, what everyone knew and when they knew it. Why in the world would we not want that when stakes are so high?

Is there some chance that Dems want trump out of the way quickly so that they can go after the smaller fish in peace? Given the uncertainty of a Senate vote to convict, it doesn't make sense not to spend more time in order to make it absolutely obvious that the election was not in doubt, that there was a Big Lie, and that the republic was on the line.
