One particular group in the US started using it a few years ago and a few other smaller groups have used it as well. There's no evidence that the swastika has been replaced in any general sort of way.

Just check the news for occurrences of each symbol. You'll find dozens of swastika references just in the last few weeks. For this rune? You'll find stuff from this CPAC event... and then a couple stories from a few years ago about the National Socialists dropping one symbol for the other.

More relevantly for this story. There isn't any reason at all to expect Hyatt employees to be able to recognize the symbol.
