I just finished reading "Grant", the amazing biography by Jean Edward Smith, at 628 pages not counting over a 100 additional pages of citations. I am so glad that I did. It superbly helped me start to fill in my understanding of aspects of American history that I too long have neglected to study.

And it left me with new and deepened admiration for that man.
