Like it or not, Northern Ireland is constitutionally (makeup) different from Ireland, even as many NI citizens share a religious grounding with people in Ireland.

Protestants in Northern Ireland are still and will continue to be a large group. An attempt to merge NI with the Irish Republic would lead to a massive bloodbath. It is better if Catholics in NI use their political power to become fully franchised citizens of that country.
