A friend who’s a pro musician with work on Spotify told me about this — compensation averages around $0.0038 per stream.

By contrast, Pandora Premium & Prime, Amazon Music, and Apple Music pay only slightly more. But for artists who get a lot of streams, this can create a modest income flow.

Obviously small-time independent artists aren’t going to make Taylor Swift money, but there should be a reasonable minimum that’s not a slap in the face to the artists who make the service possible.
