Right wingers in general and people like Greene, Shapiro, etc.. in particular want to debate because to them it is performative rather than informative. They are not looking to exchange or even argue about ideas. Their goal is to create soundbites of performance to raise their profile. They come to debates in bad faith, not prepared to win, but prepared to create the spectacle. I would even give them the credit of understanding that no minds will be changed by the information. They seek to connect with people on an emotional level and to get their disgusting views out to the mainstream.

AOC is better off not dignifying Greene with any kind of response or debate. Greene, I am sure, will call her a chicken and such, but then AOC's people might then respond, that it isn't because they are afraid to engage with the opposition (As seen with the Jason Amash situation) it is that Greene does not have ANY ideas worth engaging with.
