(19,564 posts)We screwed up, despite multiple people warning us of the repercussions of our apathy, and foolishness. The potential decimation of the SC was front and center back then, even if it fell on too many deaf ears. Now we're reaping what we sowed, as we were warned we would.
There's not an easy fix here, sadly. Not that I don't wish there was. We broke it and the only way to fix it is by getting out there and voting for the most electable Democrats on every ticket. I doubt we will, we're way too salty for serious pragmatism, but that's how we work to repair this damage down the road. There's no quick triage of our self inflicted wounds. There will be no immediate expansion of the SC. There is no quick fix here, the numbers do not exist for such.
We lost in the 2020 census, too. Gerrymandering will be brutal, and some will be overturned, but not as much as previously due to the courts. Republicans who didn't even like Trump knew this when they voted for him.
