(6,815 posts)9. It's hard being a Democratic party in a red or leaning-red state.
It makes the choosing of candidates both more important and more difficult. When the necessary, ultimate and primary goal is to defeat the Republican candidate some things get confused. Funding, name recognition, communication skills, etc. - all these things are integral to the task.
Through that lens, Sinema was a godsend to Arizona Democrats because otherwise McSally would be GOP senator #51. That was hard to even think, much less type out loud.

Sinema isn't up for re-election until 2024, but Dems should be searching for a replacement.
