wasn't added to the Pledge of Allegiance until 1954.

And the Pledge itself? Yeah, introduced in summer 1892 by the *socialist* minister Francis Bellamy....

So, he's historically wrong, and demonstrably stupid. If you do not understand the Constitution and what American Democracy (yes, we area Democratic Republic. Those morons couldn't explain Federalism if they read the definition from a children's dictionary), then you have zero business trying to govern. That goes for him, and the asshats from Georgia, NC, AZ, MO, CO and other bastions of fearful, willfully ignorant rubes.

Democrats need to point this out--how the GOQP can't follow their own Constitution, nor the Bible they claim to love so much.

Never mind the Deists among the founding fathers who saw what single state religion did in the colonies. Never mind that nearly 200 years passed between the first "pilgrims" and the Revolution. (Pilgrims? failed. Rhode Island and Anne Hutchinson?) Most colonists considered themselves Christians, although this did not mean evangelical in today's sense. This did not mean that they lived in religious unity, either. Different Christian groups believed their own practice of faith provided special values that needed protection against those who disagreed. These people came from a Europe where Catholic and Protestant nations often persecuted or forbade each other's religions.

Today's evangelical political christain simply doubts their own belief to the point where any dissent or disagreement drives them into cognitive dissonance. They cannot abide anyone thinking differently; ergo, they want to eliminate all dissent, and violate the first amendment. These people are a very vocal minority. They are clanging gongs and braying asses.

But sure, make everyone in the nation become First Free Southern Christain Baptist Disciples. Or make them all Muslims. Or force everyone to be Catholic. See how that plays out. Oh, wait, we called that the Spanish Inquisition.

We have Freedom from Religion, too.
