2. Here's a story you can research ...

I'm American of Mexican decent.
I had a racist co-worker ask me why Mexicans don't learn to speak English?
Why don't they assimilate to "our" culture?
So I asked my co-worker, why don't you assimilate to Mexican culture and speak Spanish?
I then asked "Do you know what language the California Constitution is written in?"
She responds confidently, "In English!"

I told her she is partially correct, but the California Constitution is written in both English and Spanish,
because both languages were the official language of California at the time.
I then told her the California Constitution was not translated from English to Spanish, they were both written simultaneously.

She got mad and left

The Capital at the time was Monterey.
