It's a shame that good companies who treat people well-- and good cities that are diverse and innovative-- are hamstrung by the crazy state legislatures, which are often dominated by rural pols who are pandering to their own constituents rather than considering the majority who are urban and suburban and have very different values and needs.
"Why bother to plan for all-day kindergarten? Why bother with free tuition for community college? 12 years of schooling was enough for me!"
