and they upped us to $105 a few years backi. My mom started working the polls at the age of 70. Our Democratic committeeman knew my folks, and knew that Dad had died a few months before the primary & called Mom to work the polls knowing she needed to see people and do something.

From Mom, I came to work (was Judge of Elections for a couple of years) then my brother (he's now Judge). Four of my 8 nieces and nephews when they reached voting age have worked with us. When I went back to College in 2001, I would find the neediest student I knew and have them stay over night at my house & they would work the polls. I did this for about 5 young women.

Tomorrow there will be 6 people working our precinct. I am the Rover, I take care of all problems that walk into the door. If someone is not registered at our precinct, they do not leave until I find out where they are to vote. I think we have only done one provisional ballot over the past few years. That's because we let the voter know where they are registered and if needed we get one of the committee people to drive them to that polling place.
