General Discussion
In reply to the discussion: What Jack Smith isn't telling us [View all]Ever since Smith arrived on the scene, I've been optimistic about an indictment, and I'm still optimistic about Trump eventually being convicted of something(s). I am not and never have been optimistic about or particularly attached to the idea of him ever going to prison. Maybe I'll turn out to be wrong, but I've long believed that home confinement is a much more likely outcome.
And I'm okay with that. I'm actually more excited to see him tried in court for his crimes and all the dirty laundry on full display for the world to see than I am about any resulting punishment. The trial(s) itself/themselves will be punitive for a man as vain and narcissistic as Trump. He'll no doubt retain a small cadre of worshippers, but many, many more people will see him for the pos he is than do now. I like that idea quite a lot.
I also agree that home confinement would be a more severe punishment for Trump than any of us can imagine. This is a guy who is used to jumping in his own personal plane and jetting off to God knows where at a moment's notice. Home confinement would would be a huge adjustment, at the very least. It would also solve the problem of what to do about his SS detail that would arise if he was sent to a federal prison.
