12. When you grew up as a white in apartheid South Africa, you don't get to define

what "far right" is. Most of the people you grew up among were far right, unless your parents were getting arrested.

Plus, of course, Musk is desperate to attract the far right, and bigots ("effete" is a homophobic dog-whistle) to Twitter, so he'll bullshit all day about what "the people" think. The BBC defines as far right the French National Front (or whatever they renamed themselves to pretend they'd changed), the Austrian Freedom Party (roots: the Nazi Party), Meloni in Italy (roots: the Fascists), the Sweden Democrats (roots: neo-nazis), Vox in Spain (roots: Franco). Objectively, these are far-right - well right of mainstream right wing parties, with roots in fascist authoritarian parties that we (yes, even South Africa that would then institute apartheid) fought in WW2.
