Taxpayers on the hook when states do not expand and/or update their medicaid programs [View all]

I just listened to a show about this. When states do not expand medicaid or update the program, it costs schools money. Schools are mandated to care for children's illnesses and health conditions. These are unfunded federal mandates. But, for every child who is covered by medicaid, the school does receive some reimbursement. So, red governors who are so proud of themselves for cutting off medicaid, not expanding it, not updating the rules, local taxpayers will have to cover the costs of these school programs.
