Voting for someone like Jim Jordan is not an option. Republicans just don't want to work with Democrats because they fear backlash from their voters if they do. The "Speaker at any cost" narrative was what they thought would get Jordan through, but thankfully enough Republicans had the backbone to oppose him. The damage a MAGAt could do with the Speaker's gavel is horrifying and no Democrat should ever vote for that.
Of course, there are real-world consequences, but I'm not sure I know what you think we should do about it.
