It's a beautiful Sunday in Piedmont North Carolina. Blue asters and pink Japanese mums are still in full bloom, despite the recent frosts. A single purple colchicum bloomed. I just saw two buzzards mating on my neighbor's roof - that was quite a sight.

I'm with people I love and we're all in fairly good health.

And we're safe from war. A reason to be grateful indeed.
