maybe a helicopter. It was taken in 2008 while Obama visited Iraq during his first run for president.

The reason I remember the picture so clearly is that the look that Petraeus and Obama exchanged was one of recognition and deep friendship. I personally believe that Obama and Petraeus trusted each other instinctively and were good friends almost instantly when they met.

Petraeus sounds like a bit of an obsessive-compulsive type. Obama is also a person who is very duty-bound and reliable although he displays those traits in more laid-back manner.

Both Obama and Petraeus value physical fitness (although Obama is not a fanatic about it). Both work very, very hard. Both are true patriots.

I don't know why, but I find the fact that Petraeus was recovering from treatment for prostate cancer to be significant. Maybe his affair was a kind of last grab for mortal pleasure. I don't know. Maybe he craved the recognition and affirmation of Broadwell once he was no longer surrounded by admiring and subservient troops.

Anyway, as with Spitzer, I don't think we have heard the last from Petraeus. The article paints Broadwell as an ambitious but well-meaning person. It will take a lot more than the information in that article to convince me of that. And then there is Jill Kelly. We shall see. I do not understand why this group of wealthy, society women were allowed to become so familiar with the leadership of our military. Seems totally inappropriate to me.
