through most of our history and it's worked out as both sides were capable of reasoning and cooperating.

Then fucking Reagan brought in the fundagelicals. They are incapable of reason or compromise because god.

I'm hoping the repeal of Roe does to the GOP what passing desperately needed civil rights legislation did to us, that they're mostly out of power for the next 55 years or so, long enough to restore balance in the economy and undo the other evils perpetrated by Nixon and Reagan.
