In reply to the discussion: Are people angry that UNCOMMITTED is getting votes in Michigan, or that cable news is reporting is? [View all]Igel
(36,538 posts)NPR's "The Daily" (in which reporters interview reporters and present this as "news" or "important" ... A giant infomercial for the NYT, IMO) waxed 25 minutes long on this point. It's worrying them muchly. And they're torn.
They both like the reason for the "uncommitted" but have troubles accepting that it could endanger "our democracy" because Biden might ultimately not get votes needed to keep Michigan more blue than red and lose Biden EC votes. Okay, "troubles" is an understatement; I think they're scared shitless that it could cost (D) control of the WH. Why? Because in the end they concluded a lot of voters would return to vote for Biden but many see no difference between Trump and Biden on an issue they consider core. Then again, a lot of journalism privileges the anecdote over data, so who can say?
I would say I think it won't hurt in November, but I gave up prophecy when I said in 2016 there was no way Trump would win, not to worry. (Oops.)
